I have a creative personality; it’s a great thing, and it enables me to have a really cool job, “Worship ARTS Pastor.” Being creative is a lot of fun, especially when you get to do cool things like build roller-coasters in church. My mind is always thinking of new ideas. I love to create. Think about it, God is “The Creator”; He made us in His image; therefore, when we create, we reflect the image of God. Pretty cool, huh?
However, since I’m not God, being a creative type has some pitfalls. For instance, I’m a “Big Picture” person; I get lost in the minutia. In fact, details just flat out drain me! Also, I tend to obsess a bit over new ideas (okay, so I tend to obsess a lot). For instance, yesterday I was in the drive through at Chick-fil-A, waiting to order. I was using their wi-fi to blog on my computer while I was in the car line. Yes, that was unsafe and extremely stupid (what? you mean you’ve never done anything stupid?)…..What can I say? I’m obsessed with writing this new blog.
Writing is not the only thing I’m obsessed with. I’m obsessed with (in no particular order) music, the water, One Tree Hill, UNC, my family, my job, and the list goes on and on….
Yesterday as I was blogging in the Chick-fil-A car line, I had a thought: “How obsessed am I about spreading the Gospel?” I mean, seriously; if I thought about telling other people about Christ half as much as I thought about blogging, writing music, and Tarheel basketball, a lot more people would know about Jesus.
How about you; what are you obsessed with? How much time do you waste on things that, in the end, will have little eternal value? Be completely honest with yourself. As you reflect, let the truth floor you.
